Mineral wool products seem to be best known for their fire resistance. Mineral wool fibers inhibit the spread of fires because the fibers are non-combustible, with melting temperatures in excess of 1900º F.
Mineral wool products are not only useful for fire resistant applications. Because the fibers also trap air, slowing heat transfer, mineral wool products are also great thermal insulators. Like other insulation products available for fabrication and distribution at FSI, mineral wool products can reduce air condensation, and act as an effective acoustical insulator.
