Acoustical Foam: Polyurethane, Polyester, and Polyether
Acoustical foam is used for sound absorption. It is designed to reduce sound reverberations, echoes, vibrations and to absorb the energy of sound waves. Fabrication Specialties can fabricate foam parts to your specifications - enabling cost effective designs to dampen and control noise. The design and cell structure of acoustical foams allow for large surface areas to trap sound.
Polyurethane foams (like those from E-A-R Specialty Composites) can be used in a variety of applications: dampening materials, molding materials, acoustical barriers, absorbing foams, cushioning materials, and multi-function composites. Materials are available with a multitude of facings (polyester, urethane, aluminized, vinyl, mylar, neoprene) and pressure-sensitive adhesives.
Fabrication Specialties also makes acoustical wall panels from foam, fiber glass, and other materials.
